Basque houses and paprika in EspelettePerfect for discovering the most beautiful Basque villages:    We start in Espelette, famous for its tasty spices, where you can see the traditional drying of paprikas hanging on the front of the local vilagers houses, and take a look at the 14th century castle - which now houses the local council.

Then we move on to Ainhoa, a charming village that dates back to the 13th century, filled with magnificent traditional houses, many of which have retained their large ¨lorios¨or porches.  Aihnoa is also recognised as a stopping point on the route of the famous Compostela pilgrim walking trail.  Finally we visit Itxassou nestled at the foot of the mountains where the black cherry trees grow - the perfect accompaniment to the famous basque brebis cheese!
